MY STORY

One of the first things that most of us learn, purely by instinct, is visual language. The face of a parent, the curve of a smile, the twinkle in an eye help us navigate life as an infant. The casual phrases “Seeing is believing” and  “I see what you mean” are ways of acknowledging deep understanding. Images are a complex, core language.

As a teen I strived to find this wordless connection with images after discovering my father’s old 35mm film camera in a desk drawer. The camera lit a spark within me to discover a view of life beyond words, and I’m ever grateful for having this artistic passion for interpreting the world around me.

In my photography I love to capture compelling moments that suspend time. Freezing emotion and meaning feels important because it is important. An image tells a complex story in an instant. Portraiture is a way of telling a personal story and it provides a great focal point for finding the essence of a person in a situation. I love making photos of inspired people; musicians, dancers, creators and artists of all kinds.
